Owen 1 S. Functional and high quality. The wood/lacquer finish is very smooth.
This playful lacquer (大漆) object, created by Kevin, sits at the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary expression. It resists a single definition—both a decorative ring and a functional lid rest (盖置)—and invites you to decide how it lives in your daily rituals.
Made from natural lacquer, fabric, gold leaf, and copper, each piece is formed through an intuitive, open-ended process. The final textures and patterns are never fully controlled, allowing chance, time, and material to speak for themselves.
Like a river stone, the final form is guided by the maker’s intuition and the lacquer’s own will.
Light, Curious, and Unexpected
Placed beside a gaiwan or teapot, it quietly supports the lid. Worn or displayed, it becomes a small sculptural accent.
Lacquer as Living Material
This is not an object designed for perfection—but for presence.
It's not decoration; it's an archeological discovery of layers.
“Some objects don’t ask what they are. They ask how you want to use them.”
This lacquer piece is not meant to be defined—it is meant to be lived with, shifting gently between function, play, and quiet beauty.
