Time, Patience, and Daily Use
This lacquer artwork was completed over the course of more than a year. Dissatisfied with the initial result, it was dismantled and reworked, then left to mature. A year and a half later, it reached its final state—not rushed, not compromised. What you see is the result of patience rather than process.
Made from fabric, lime, copper, Xuan paper, and gold powder, with natural lacquer as the primary medium, this piece is thin, light, and unexpectedly strong. Subtle brilliance beneath the surface. The gold powder isn't a flash, but a slow glow that matures alongside the lacquer. It reflects a belief that true craftsmanship is not measured by speed, but by the willingness to wait.
Surprisingly light, undeniably strong. A structure of fabric, lime, and copper, unified by the eternal bond of natural lacquer.
How It Feels
Light, Calm, and Reassuring
- Thin and lightweight, easy to lift and use daily
- Solid and stable despite its delicate appearance
- Warm, quiet tactility unique to natural lacquer
- Comfortable to handle, inviting frequent use rather than display-only admiration
This is a piece that feels calm in the hands—neither fragile nor loud.
Why It’s Different
Lacquer as Time Itself
Natural lacquer is not simply a coating; it is a living material that hardens, stabilizes, and matures over time. The process allows no shortcuts.
- Reworked after the first completion, then rested and refined
- Multi-material structure layered for strength and lightness
- Food-safe due to traditional lacquer techniques
- Each surface carries subtle, unrepeatable variations
This is not decorative perfection, but honest completion.
Built for Daily Use
- Suitable for holding food
- Durable lacquer surface resistant to normal daily handling
- Easy to wipe clean after use
- Designed to be used often, not stored away
Natural lacquer is one of Earth's first bio-plastics. Fully food-safe and heat-resistant, it invites your favorite fruits or dry sweets to rest on its surface.
With time, the surface will develop a deeper, softer sheen.
Founder Anchor
“I believe an artwork can also be a daily object. If something is beautiful but never used, it remains unfinished.”
